Synopsis Coming Soon!
This episode is a thrilling roller coaster ride from start to finish. It's exciting, but once it's over, it becomes clear that nothing really makes much sense. We had been shown thus far in the "Xenaverse" that people who die either go to Tartarus or the Alysian fields. So how did heaven and hell suddenly get thrown in the midst? If the creatures of hell are rebelling, couldn't God just send them packing in two shakes? I also had problems with Xena having the power to redeem Callisto. It raises a serious question. What kind of a being is God who would create a system where people are sent to Hell and allow someone to just arbitrarily change that? That said, the special effects are dazzling, better than most of the episodes of the series.
It is quite a surprise when Callisto is redeemed. She comes off as being a little too sickly sweet. It appeared that Hudson Leick was finally done with the series, but she would yet reappear again in Seeds Of Faith.
My favorite moment of the episode is when Xena and Gabrielle are restored, and Joxer, full of emotion, walks over to Gabrielle and puts his hand on her cheek. A very touching moment.
This is easily Amarice's best episode to date. For the first time, she does not come off as incredibly annoying.
